Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of March 30, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: it's only 34 degrees and overcast, although the sun is trying to poke through. They are calling for possible flurries today. Can't Spring just spring already??

I am thinking: that I need to stop hanging out online and get down to the tasks at hand: my assignment and bible study prep for Ladies' group Thursday!

From the learning rooms: my assignment this week is teaching me how to write a screenplay, although as much as I love movies, I doubt I'll ever put this lesson into practice.

I am thankful for: the opportunity hubby and I had to get away to North Carolina. Just to have that little bit of warmth and sunshine will help us get through the next month while we wait for Spring to flourish here.

From the kitchen: the dishwasher needs to be unloaded from last night's wash and I need another cup of my vanilla black tea.

I am wearing: blue fleece sweat pants, white mock-turtleneck, and green cotton hoodie. My pink slipper boots are on my feet keeping them toasty warm ;-)

I am reading: the same as last week: my Bible, Behind the Stories, Karen Kingsbury's Every Now and Then and a couple of daily devotionals: Beth Moore's Believing God: Day by Day and The One Year Women's Friendship Devotional

I am hoping: to get my assignment done in time and to catch up on some much needed sleep.

I am creating: still working on baby blanket #2 - really need to ramp up my knitting while watching t.v. so I'll get it done before baby T comes

I am hearing: the heat waft from the furnace through the air vent in the dining room.

Around the house: it is quiet and I am enjoying the peace of my home

One of my favorite things: catching up online with my best buddies

A few plans for the rest of the week: finishing my assignment, going to my old workplace to get info for 3 days of work next week (Blech!), preparing Bible Study questions for ladies' group small group, hang out with our friends this weekend before baby T comes, laundry, grocery shopping... sure there's more.

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of March 23, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: is my sister's beautiful North Carolina backyard where Spring is springing.

I am thinking: that I don't want to go home and I DREAD going back to my old job for even 4 days Blowing Nose

From the learning rooms: God is in control, even when life doesn't make human sense.

I am thankful for: this time at my sister's where my hubby can FINALLY relax and leave work behind him

From the kitchen: my vanilla black tea is in the teapot and the cereal box is calling out my name

I am wearing: my old "standby": pink snoopy pj pants, pink t-shirt and my cream angora hoodie and warm fuzzy socks

I am reading: my Bible, Behind the Stories, Karen Kingsbury's Every Now and Then and a couple of daily devotionals: Beth Moore's Believing God: Day by Day and The One Year Women's Friendship Devotional

I am hoping: that God works all things out for His glory in the lives of my sister's family this year!

I am creating: another baby blanket for the 2nd of my pregnant friends. KnittingThis one I'm sort of making up from a pattern I found online. I'm making it a colorful patchwork (since we don't know the sex of the baby) with 14 balls of yarn going at once. A little confusing at times, but it's turning out REALLY cute if I do say so myself.

I am hearing: Josh Turner's deep base voice on the GAC station on my sister's tv

Around the house: are signs of our helping the U.S. economy ~ bags from our shopping expeditions on the weekend Smile

One of my favorite things: is sitting outside on my sister's back patio enjoying the warmth of the sun. I can't get enough of it as I'll have to psych myself up to go home on Friday ~ back to the cooler weather.

A few plans for the rest of the week: going to my niece's for dinner tonight, having my other niece and her boyfriend come for dinner tomorrow night, maybe another round of golf, more shopping, more eating out (Olive Garden, Sweet Tomatoes, Carraba's?), packing up to go home Pouty

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of March 16, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: the sun is shining and the temperature today is supposed to get up into the high 40's! WOOHOO!!

I am thinking: that I hope I don't forget to pack anything I'll need on our trip to North Carolina.

From the learning rooms: I'm learning that I am more like some of the characters around the Cross than I would have thought. Like Peter, I often deny my Lord, even when I think I never will, other times I'm as devoted as Mary, pouring out my life for Jesus. Other times I'm like Judas, and betray Him. Our series at church on the characters around the Cross has been very revealing!

I am thankful for: my sister's generosity to allow us to come dogsit for her and stay at their house for a cheap vacation!

From the kitchen: my vanilla black tea is staying warm under the tea cozy in my teapot, waiting for me to come grab another cup this morningSipping Tea

I am wearing: Okay Denise... ya ready?? I'm wearing jeans Shock (and not jammies) with a pink long sleeve tshirt and pink fuzzy hoodie and fuzzy socks.

I am reading: my Bible (in Deuteronomy now); I'm getting back into reading Behind the Stories, and also reading Karen Kingsbury's Every Now and Then.

I am hoping: that hubby will relax in NC and we'll have a safe and fun trip.

I am hearing: Carrie Underwood sing, "I Told You So" on CMT.

Around the house: are little piles of things to be packed into the car and others to be put away before we go.

One of my favorite things: is the Olive Garden. I can't wait for us to go eat there in NC with the gift certificate we got from my sister at Christmas! Italian Restaurant We don't have OG up here in Ontario anymore so we have to get our fill when we head across the border.

A few plans for the rest of the week: finish packing, cleaning, get together with friends tonight, drive to NC, REST, eat, watch reality tv, shop... REST!

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of March 9, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: it is a gray day and it looks like we may get more rain, like we did all weekend. Better rain than snow at this time of year!

I am thinking: that I have a lot to do this week... again.

From the learning rooms: I'm learning this week that it's okay to say "No" when a friend asks for a favor, particularly when childcare is involved. I don't have to feel guilty because I don't want to babysit my friend's children every time they ask. Just because I don't have any, doesn't mean I want to look after everyone else's. I won't always say "No", but after last week's prep for the triple baby shower, and this week catching up on everything, I just don't feel I have the energy (or desire) to look after 3 kids for an afternoon. I Dunno

I am thankful for: the smashing success of the triple baby shower Saturday night. Everything fell into place with barely a hitch and everyone seemed to have a great time, especially the expecting couples. It was a sheer joy to be able to bless these very special young couples and their soon-to-be new additions!

From the kitchen: there is a great need for a good clean! Washing DishesThe dishwasher needs unloading, and the counters need to be decluttered and have a good cleansing scrub. I've neglected it a little this week with the busyness but I'll get down to making it spiffy clean today... or tomorrow

I am wearing: a white long sleeve t-shirt and maroon fleece sweat pants and my pink bootie slippers. I need to grab a sweater because I'm a little chilled but will do that when I finish posting. And Denise... I do think about what I'm wearing before I leave my bedroom on Mondays now... just to make sure I'm not always in the same thing Belly Laugh

I am reading: my Bible (in Numbers still); I'm still reading Behind the Stories, and also reading my new book club selection, This Side of Heaven, by Karen Kingsbury.

I am hoping: to discipline myself better this week and find balance between the things I need to accomplish, housework and the things I want to get done.

I am creating: I have only 4 rows left of the first baby blanket and then I need to decide if I want to make clothes or another blanket for baby # 2 - I have until the end of April for that one so I should have time to complete something! Most likely a blanket because I find it easier and I already have the yarn Knitting

I am hearing: silence... and it is golden!

Around the house: is a HUGE pile of laundry again this morning and a little bit of tidying up from the weekend whirl around here.

One of my favorite things: was the hoopla and excitement from my friends on Saturday night at the baby shower as they ate the "Crack Brownies". I had to giggle because they were all eating like 3-4 brownies, completely unaware that each brownie is like a zillion calories with the butter, choc chips, caramels and evaporated milk. Better they eat them than me! Was that too evil an answer? Question Mark I'm just glad they enjoyed them!

A few plans for the rest of the week: housework, reading book club book, preparing bible study, helping a friend with her son's "Amazing Race" birthday party, knitting.

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of March 2, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: a bright cheery sun is shining but again, the temperature is bitter cold. Hurry Spring... please!

I am thinking: that I have "rumbly in my tumbly" and need to eat some breakfast.

From the learning rooms: I am learning that our lack of trust in God can hamper God's timing in our lives. Did you realize that had the Israelite people trusted the two spies (Caleb and Joshua) when they reported back from their first journey into Canaan, their journey into the Promised Land from Eygpt would have been only about two years and not 40 years of wandering in the dessert? Geesh... we really aren't clever as humans! If only we'd learn to trust God and His promises, we would see those "lands flowing with milk and honey" in our lives!

I am thankful for: my marriage and my hubby. We attended a marriage seminar on the weekend and it was a great refresher on how to be a godly spouse, but it was also an encouragement to us that we are on the right path!

From the kitchen: breakfast is calling for me... toast? yogurt? cereal? I'm not sure yet but after I finish here that is where I am headed!

I am wearing: You're dying to know the answer to this one aren't you? hee hee. This morning I am wearing my grey/pink plaid p.j.'s and white angora hoodie but after I eat breakfast I'll be putting on some workout clothes and go for a walk on the treadmill.

I am reading: my Bible (in Numbers now); I'm still reading Behind the Stories, and starting my new book club selection, This Side of Heaven, by Karen Kingsbury.

I am hoping: to keep myself focused this week as I have a crazy busy week ahead.

I am creating: the same as last week: a baby blanket still for one of my 2 pregnant friends. It's a slow go because my wrist and back can't take too many rows at one time so it's a very long process it seems. Perhaps only 1 of my friends will end up with a homemade knitted something. :-(

I am hearing: nothing but the gentle whir of my laptop fan and the ticking of the clock in the kitchen. Ahhh I love my peaceful house!

Around the house: is a HUGE pile of laundry I need to get to this morning.

One of my favorite things: is reality t.v. and tonight is a big night ~ the Finale of the Bachelor. So much hype and rumour is out there about who he picks and did he end up with the #2 pick in the end... blah blah blah. It will be interesting to see if ABC hyped all this for ratings or if it truly will be "the most shocking finale" as they touted it to be at the start.

A few plans for the rest of the week: book club Tuesday night, small group Wed night, Abide Thursday a.m., shopping w/ Amy for baby shower gifts, make food for baby shower Sat, set up & attend Baby Shower Sat p.m., crash Sunday!

Here is a picture thought to share with you:

Nothing starts my day better
