Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of April 27, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: It looks beautiful! The sun is shining high in the sky and the temperature is supposed to be up in the mid to high 70s today!

I am thinking: I have so much to do this week and need some sort of focus so I don't get overwhelmed.

From the learning rooms: Time is a precious commodity and it seems to be moving at a faster pace so I need to be more intentional with my time.

I am thankful for: the safe arrival of Baby T... now known as Baby "C" now that we know who SHE is!

From the kitchen: my dishwasher is full and clean, awaiting to be unloaded. I'm wondering what to pull out for dinner tonight but it seems to be the least of my concerns on my "To Do" list.

I am wearing: jeans, white v-neck Tee, green hoodie and flip flops... yes... I said FLIP FLOPS!!

I am reading: Ecclesiastes in my Bible, 90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper, and my devotionals, although I feel terrible delinquent in all my reading at the moment.

I am hoping: to have some time to be quiet with God today, perhaps outside on the patio!

I am creating: The baby blanket is done... the only thing left to do is sew in all the loose strings, wash it and then put it in the bag to deliver to Baby C!

I am hearing: the ladies from The View as they discuss "Hot Topics"... and in particular discussing the Celebrity Apprentice meltdown of Melissa and Joan Rivers last night.

Around the house: The laundry is waiting to head down to the laundry room, and there are things to do as we contemplate putting the house for sale sometime this spring/summer.

One of my favorite things: the warmth of the sun, especially after a long winter's chill.

A few plans for the rest of the week: It's going to be a crazy week ~ running errands, housework, preparations for hosting bridal shower at church, finishing Baby C's blanket, meeting with co-leader of book club to discuss questions, writing assignment, prep for Ladie's group bible Study, doing my own Bible Study (that I'm behind on now). Yikes... Calgon take me away!

a GORGEOUS sunshiny and humid Saturday of sunshine.

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of April 20, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: It is in the low 40's and raining.

I am thinking: that it is a great day to sit inside and catch up on my book club book!

From the learning rooms: God is the giver and taker of life and our hope is in Him.

I am thankful for: the hope we have in Jesus that nothing we endure is too hard for us when we rest on Him and His promises.

From the kitchen: all is quiet. Chicken is thawing in cold water in the sink, in order to make chicken salad for hubby's lunch tomorrow. Dinner tonight is left over lasagna from the freezer!

I am wearing: green velour track pants, a pink t-shirt and pink hoodie.

I am reading: Ecclesiastes in my Bible, 90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper, Fated Genes (my book club selection this month) and my devotionals.

I am hoping: to get a good handle on my book club book as I have to lead the group with another woman this next meeting.

I am creating: that baby blanket still. Only have 2 weeks or so left before Baby T is due so I have to hunker down and get it done!

I am hearing: raindrops tapping on the window, reminding me that April Showers bring May flowers (not that there are any flowers yet in my garden to bloom).

Around the house: there is a laundry in the washer and dryer, shirts drying from the rafters in the laundry roomo, books scattered on my coffee table (Bible, journal, Bible Study, devotionals)

One of my favorite things: snuggling up in a blanket and either reading or watching a good chick flick on a rainy day.

A few plans for the rest of the week: reading, cleaning, blogging, ladies' Bible study ... it's actually a pretty quiet week.

This is my "nephew" Pepper who came to visit Saturday
with his "Sister", my niece S!
He's a Bichon Havanese. Isn't he adorable?

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of April 13, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: the sun is shining and the temperature is already 39 degrees, on its way up to the high 40's.

I am thinking: that it is very lonely in the house without Meg. Today is my first day "alone" since we had to put her down.

From the learning rooms: life and all it's pleasures and pursuits without Jesus is meaningless

I am thankful for: the Cross. I am ever thankful for Jesus' willingness to take upon Himself the weight of my sins, be beaten and bruised by the evil of this world, including that which lives inside me, and to triumphantly rise from the dead on the third day, overcoming satan's rule, once and for all. Thank you Jesus!

From the kitchen: the dishwasher is clean awaiting me to empty it, my tea is "cozy" in the pot and there are leftovers for lunch

I am wearing: my pink Snoopy plaid pj bottoms, long sleeve white t-shirt, pink cotton pullover and green cozy socks w/ my pink "booty" slippers... but not for long - I need to shower soon & put "real" clothes on to run a few errands

I am reading: Ecclesiastes in my Bible, 90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper and my devotionals.

I am hoping: that I have the motivation this week to do my assignment and start my Spring cleaning

I am creating: half done that baby blanket.

I am hearing: the clock ticking on the kitchen wall, the whir of the clothes flopping around in the dryer.

Around the house: there is a load of laundry in the dryer, one in the washer and one waiting for its turn.

One of my favorite things: enjoying the company of friends over a good meal, like yesterday's Easter dinner

A few plans for the rest of the week: working on and completing my assignment, Spring cleaning, returning the new "piece of crap" printer to the store, getting together with A to plan a bridal shower for N&J, finish my laundry and ironing

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of April 6, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: it's only 34 degrees and they are calling for SNOW! Spring... come out, come out, wherever you are!!

I am thinking: that I only have 3 days of work... I can do this!

From the learning rooms: that sometimes the kindest and most loving thing you can do is let your animal "go".

I am thankful for: Fourteen and a half years with our beautiful cats, Meg and Syd (although Syd went to "kitty heaven" after almost 12 years)

From the kitchen: my brown bag lunch is sitting on the counter waiting for me, and the kettle is boiled ready to make me a cup of tea to go.

I am wearing: Okay Denise... are ya ready.... Smile... brown cords, pink blouse, cream cardigan... got me on some "work" clothes this morning!

I am reading: my Bible, Karen Kingsbury's Every Now and Then and my devotionals.

I am hoping: that the next 3 days go by easily and quickly!

I am creating: still working on that baby blanket - I'm a couple rows short of halfway.

I am hearing: nothing but the hum of the refrigerator. I miss those annoying "meows" now.

Around the house: the tiny bits of clutter will have to wait

One of my favorite things: NOT working!

A few plans for the rest of the week: filling in at my old office for 3 days, Book Club Tuesday night, making a lemon meringue pie for Good Friday Easter dinner with Doug's family, attend church activities for Holy Week, celebrate my Risen Lord on Easter!

Weary Meg, before we head
to the Vet's on Friday.
(You can see she was ready to go!)
We miss her terribly.
