Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of November 16, 2009

FOR TODAY... from Sue's Daybook

Outside my window... the trees are bare and the sky is gray.

I am thinking... how much I am going to miss my hubby while he's away this week on his next business trip.

I am thankful for... my hubby's job, but wish it wasn't so taxing on him.

I am wearing... brown cotton pants, pink long-sleeved cotton shirt and white cardigan

I am remembering... to pace myself this week between work, housework and rest.

I am going... to try and book tickets to a "dinner" theater matinee for this Sat with my sis, niece, nephew and me.

I am reading... My Bible, Crazy Love by Francis Chan for study, and Simply Christmas (a compilation of 4 short stories) for pleasure.

I am hearing... nothing but the hum of my laptop.

I am hoping... hubby doesn't get sick from all this airline travel and crazy business schedule.

I need... to call DELL and complain about this laptop for the umpeenth time.  It has been nothing but problems since I got it last Christmas!

On my mind... not too much ~ I'm too tired to think.

From the learning rooms... God is my portion and my inheritance!

Noticing that... the house somehow looks warmer and more magical with Christmas lights.

Pondering these words... God is good!

From the kitchen... my tea awaits me.

I am creating... baby gifts for the triplets... started the last one... hopefully should get it done in time... a month to go!

Around the house... it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

One of my favorite things... snuggling with my hubby ~ gonna miss him this week!

A few plans for the rest of the week... work, reality tv, small group, visiting Krissy in the hospital, hopefully going to the Christmas dinner theater Sat afternoon (gotta call now!), hug hubby when he gets home Saturday!!!

From my picture journal... Christmas has come to my house...

The living room and dining room all decked out for the Holidays

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of November 9, 2009

FOR TODAY... from Sue's Daybook

Outside my window... it is a beautiful Fall day with sun shining and temperatures expected to be unseasonably warm.

I am thinking... that I don't really enjoy working outside the house.

I am thankful for... my sweet hubby who works so hard that I don't HAVE to work outside the house full-time.

I am wearing... brown cords, pink t-shirt and brown cardigan.

I am remembering... not much of anything today.

I am going... off to work soon.

I am reading... My Bible, Crazy Love by Francis Chan for study, and A Time to Gather by Sally John for pleasure.

I am hearing... Rush of Fools on my XM radio player online.

I am hoping... hubby's plane isn't late coming in on Tuesday night as it's already scheduled for 11:59pm (and I'm picking him up at the airport)

I need... to finish getting ready for work soon.

On my mind... too many things to pinpoint down to just one.

From the learning rooms... God is teaching me how BIG He is and how small and insignificant I am in the grand scheme of the universe... YET... He loves me and sent His Son to die for me!  That's some Crazy Love!

Noticing that... time flies way too fast and working 10-2 almost every day really messes up your days.

Pondering these words... Holy, holy, holy is the Lord, God Almighty.

From the kitchen... the dishwasher is now empty and the kitchen is tidied up before I head out the door

I am creating... baby gifts for the triplets... just sewing up the 2nd one for Baby Girl.  One more to go and only 6 weeks to finish (hopefully).

Around the house... it smells of paint as I was busy last week painting the dining room table legs and this weekend a little accent table.

One of my favorite things... spending time with my BFF and her 2 yr old daughter (my god-daughter), Little Miss "H".

A few plans for the rest of the week... work, watching DWTS tonight with my neighbor, picking up hubby at the airport, lunch with my 3 sisters (my sis from NC is up!!), hosting dinner with my sis & bro-in-law from NC, small group pot-luck, ladies group and repacking hubby up for the next business trip.

From my picture journal... my latest paint project...

an accent table in the living room,
changed from "Soldier Blue" to "Coal Black"

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of Nov 2, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: it's starting to get dark and the sky is gray... daylight savings time is history for another year.

I am thinking: and wondering if it's too early to start pulling out the Christmas decorations now that Halloween is over?

From the learning rooms: I am an heiress to the King of Kings.  I am a Levite, set apart for God.  He has not forgotten me but has said that He is my portion.  He is all I need!

I am thankful for: all of God's amazing blessings, spiritually, physically, materially and on and on and on...

From the kitchen: I'll need to go start supper soon.  It's Manwich night tonight.

I am wearing: jeans, pink-t-shirt and green hoodie

I am reading: my Bible and Francis Chan's book, "Crazy Love".

I am hoping: the week goes slowly because I don't have to work until Friday.

I need: to exercise.

I am creating: make that "I WAS creating"...very special baby items for 3 very special babies on the way. I'm almost done the second! (was knitting like a fiend... but still have to take a break until my back is feeling stronger and then I have to pace myself better)  I'm getting a little anxious as time flies by but my back is starting to feel better so I think if I pace myself I can get back to knitting!

I am hearing: the dull roar of traffic on the street outside - ahhh rush hour in the big city!

Around the house: The living/dining rooms are coming together beautifully as we just found a buffet/hutch to get my china and crystal in their own "home".  No more boxes!  Also found a great coffee table for the living room!

One of my favorite things: Seeing the adorable little ones trick or treating on Halloween in their sweet little costumes.  Not a big fan though of the bigger kids, especially when they are dressed in evil costumes.

A few plans for the rest of the week:reality t.v., chiropractor, some  housework and laundry, work on my final assignment, and ladies' group.  Oooh... and work on Friday.

Here is a picture thought to share with you:

My sister's dog modeling one of his Halloween costumes...
and rather embarrassed by the whole charade!

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of October 19, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: the sun is beginning it's descent over the horizon and the fall leaves are blowing around the backyard

I am thinking: that I got a lot done today - breakfast with a girlfriend, gardening, shopping... wonder who will make dinner?

From the learning rooms: it is vitally important to my well-being, (emotionally & spiritually), my marriage and my other relationships to spend time with God daily in order to keep the Holy Spirit from being quenched and my "natural woman" in check.

I am thankful for: 15 amazing years, married to the love of my life!

From the kitchen: the groceries are put away and all is quiet... for about another hour.

I am wearing: jeans, white-t-shirt & green hoodie

I am reading: my Bible, my new bible study "Me, Myself and Lies", and The Nannie Diaries.

I am hoping: the chiropractor can fix what's ailing my back once and for all!

I need: take better care of my back and once it is feeling better, exercise daily!

I am creating: make that "I WAS creating"...very special baby items for 3 very special babies on the way. I'm almost done the second! (was knitting like a fiend... but still have to take a break until my back is feeling stronger and then I have to pace myself better)  I'm getting a little anxious as time flies by & my back is still not co-operating.

I am hearing: silence and it is lovely!

Around the house: More clutter on the dining room table than I would like but it will have to wait until dinnertime... or until I get off this chair.

One of my favorite things: On our anniversary, reminiscing with my hubby about our wedding day and discussing where we need to improve our marriage and affirming what's working well.

A few plans for the rest of the week: reality t.v., chiropractor, planting more bulbs in the garden,  maybe some  housework or laundry, work on my assignment, and ladies' group.

Here is a picture thought to share with you:

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of October 5, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: the moon is full and all is quiet

I am thinking: I should be wearing a t-shirt because my long sleeve tee is rather warm tonight

From the learning rooms: that I need to pray when I get those "feelings" that something is going to happen ~ I "felt" that either me or hubby were going to get in a car accident today... and hubby did on the way home from work

I am thankful for: the minimal damage done to the car and most importantly - hubby wasn't hurt!

From the kitchen: homemade "crock pot" beef stew was dinner - fortunately I had made that yesterday before I realized that the bottom element in my stove was broken

I am wearing: red sweats and white long sleeve t-shirt

I am reading: my Bible, my new bible study "Me, Myself and Lies", and The Beach House by Sally John.

I am hoping: the repairs to the car won't be too much money... and that hubby will be able to get a complimentary rental car when he takes the car in

I need: take better care of my back and start doing more core exercises!

I am creating: very special baby items for 3 very special babies on the way. I'm almost done the second! (was knitting like a fiend... but have to take a break until my back is feeling stronger and then I have to pace myself better)

I am hearing: footsteps in our bedroom above me - hubby is getting ready for bed

Around the house: My nephew has moved back in with us for an extended stay until he figures out where he wants to live after his roommate moved out and left him lease-less.

One of my favorite things: spending time with my niblings - I'm going tomorrow to visit my pregnant niece while she's on bedrest - less than 10 weeks and the triplets could be here!

A few plans for the rest of the week: reality t.v., chiropractor, visiting one niece and dinner with another, maybe some  housework or laundry, work on my assignment, and ladies' group.

Here is a picture thought to share with you:

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of September 28, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: I hear the tap tap tapping of raindrops on my window while the fall leaves wave and dance.

I am thinking: Sometimes I love a rainy day, especially in the Fall when I'm all nestled at home with nowhere to go.

From the learning rooms: I have much to learn about loving as Jesus loves... MUCH TO LEARN!

I am thankful for: the provision of my new vehicle that we will take possession of later this week.  I'm also thankful for God's direction.

From the kitchen: dinner is thawing in the sink.  Tonight's menu is roast beef w/ roasted potatoes and carrots.

I am wearing: green sweats and white v-neck t-shirt

I am reading: my Bible, my new bible study "Me, Myself and Lies", and The Beach House by Sally John.

I am hoping: my back hangs in there until I can get to the chiropractor ~ my neck is stiff.

I need: to get cracking on my next assignment due this week. Only 3 more to go!

I am creating: very special baby items for 3 very special babies on the way. I'm almost done the second! (been knitting like a fiend... but have to take a break until the chiro fixes me up again!)

I am hearing: the gentle whir of my computer.  The rain has stopped briefly so it's silent.

Around the house: As the seasons change outside, we've done a little changing inside and rearranged the living room.

One of my favorite things: watching the leaves on the trees turn brilliant shades of red, orange and yellow.

A few plans for the rest of the week: reality t.v., small group, picking up the SUV from the dealer,  housework, work on my assignment, and ladies' group.

Here is a picture thought to share with you:

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of September 21, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: leaves are beginning to fall from the trees in my backyard as Fall makes it's presence known, despite the warmer than average temperature.

I am thinking: it's a drag that the painter showed up to paint the front door just as I was drawing myself a bath this morning. Don't feel comfortable hopping in while a stranger is in my house.

From the learning rooms: plotting a novel is hard, hard work. My hat's off to writers everywhere! In the words of Wayne & Garth (Wayne's World) - I'm not worthy... I'm not worthy!

I am thankful for: God's direction as hubby and I wrestle with the decision of investing in a new car.

From the kitchen: the kettle has boiled and it's time to make my favorite morning tea, breakfast has been eaten and chicken is thawing for dinner tonight.

I am wearing: blue "Bear Butt" shorts, white t-shirt and green hoodie.

I am reading: my Bible, my new bible study "Me, Myself and Lies", and The Beach House by Sally John.

I am hoping: for clarity as we decide in the next day or so over the SUV or sedan.

I need: to get cracking on my next assignment again. Only 3 more to go!

I am creating: very special baby items for 3 very special babies on the way. I'm almost done the second! (been knitting like a fiend!)

I am hearing: Steven Curtis Chapman on my stereo and the swoosh, swoosh of the painter's brush at my front door.

Around the house: two more loads of laundry waiting in the laundry room, the floors still need a good sweep but the bathrooms are done... well 2 of 3 so far. First week back to health and trying to finish my last (and late) assignment has put housework a little behind.

One of my favorite things: good reality t.v. like Survivor, Amazing Race and DWTS - yay Fall!

A few plans for the rest of the week: first small group of the season, buying a car, lunch with my niece, ladies' group kick off, housework, work on my assignment, and knit.

Here is a picture thought to share with you:

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of September 14, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: it's rather gray, although the temperature seems rather good for this time of year. The leaves are beginning to turn on some of the trees at the end of our street which means Fall is around the corner.

I am thinking: I wish I felt better ~ fighting some kind of sinus infection/allergies/cold?... something and I feel very worn and weak today.

From the learning rooms: inter-dependence in community is much better than independence and being all alone.

I am thankful for: answered prayers so far in keeping my niece and her triplets safe during her pregnancy... she's already half-way there!

From the kitchen: the kettle has boiled and it's time to make my favorite morning tea and some breakfast.

I am wearing: blue track pants, pink t-shirt and green hoodie... and socks.

I am reading: my Bible, my new bible study "Me, Myself and Lies", and The Beach House by Sally John.

I am hoping: my energy returns soon and I'm feeling better ~ I have SO much to do both inside and outside the house.

I need: to get cracking on my next assignment again. Only 4 more to go!

I am creating: very special baby items for 3 very special babies on the way. I'm almost done the first! (been knitting like a fiend!)

I am hearing: nothing but the clock ticking on the kitchen wall and the low hum of traffic beyond the fence and police station in my back yard.

Around the house: the floors need a good sweep and the bathrooms need a once over but it will have to wait at least one more day until I'm feeling better.

One of my favorite things: getting hugs from my hubby when I'm feeling sick. My mom used to hug me all the time when I was sick and now I make hubby. It helps me feel better!

A few plans for the rest of the week: book club starts back up tomorrow night, housecleaning, and hopefully going to sign papers at the bank for financing for a replacement vehicle for hubby's old one!

Here is a picture thought to share with you:

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of September 7, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: the leaves are gently waving in the late-summer morning's breeze. The sun is shining through a sheer filter of clouds, and all is peaceful in my backyard.

I am thinking: that with the calendar change to September, comes a new school year for many and a refocus of the year's goals, hopes and dreams for me.

From the learning rooms: I want to be more like the Good Samaritan than the priest and Levite that were too busy or too fearful to help a wounded soul in need (see Sept 6 2009 post in my regular blog for more on this)

I am thankful for: God's incredible blessings to me and for giving hubby and I such a wonderful vacation in Myrtle Beach last month!

From the kitchen: I have made my cup of tea, Vanilla black tea as usual, and enjoyed a delicious fresh peach for a breakfast "appetizer" while I finished my latest read.

I am wearing: white tank top and my "Bear Butt" boxers from Boyd's Bear Country.

I am reading: my Bible, my new bible study "Me, Myself and Lies", and not sure which of the novels in my large stack purchased on vacation I'll dig into next.

I am hoping: the rain holds off today because we have some delicious ribs and pulled pork to enjoy at Ribfest today!

I need: to get cracking on my next assignment ~ only 4 more to go and I'm done my course... I can't believe it!!

I am creating: well... I'm not creating... but I NEED to start creating baby sweaters for my niece's triplets that are due this Fall. You can read about them at their Daddy's blog, Quickly Outnumbered, but if you go there, please pray for the health of both their Mommy, my niece and for them! We're holding out for a miracle from God!

I am hearing: inspiring worship music: At this exact moment, "Cry Out to Jesus" by Third Day.

Around the house: a little clutter on the dining room table, the sound of my hubby upstairs on this holiday Labor Day, and worship music lifting my spirit in the living room while I blog.

One of my favorite things: spending time with family, like today at Ribfest!

A few plans for the rest of the week: RibFest but you know about that already, chiropractor Tuesday morning, lunch with my Mother-in-law Wednesday, working on my assignment, laundry, housework, and whatever else God brings across my path!

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of August 24, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: are the crashing waves of the mighty Atlantic Ocean as they meet the sandy shore of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

I am thinking: it is a total blessing to be here and enjoy this majestic display of God's might and power.

From the learning rooms: it is very important to slather on the sunscreen multiple times throughout the day while in the hot SC sunshine!!!

I am thankful for: my hubby's exceptionally hard work and that he is willing to share in the fruits of his labor by bringing me to this glorious place!

From the kitchen: just made myself a hot cup of my favorite tea and soon I'll be having a bowl of Raisin Bran Krisp w/ fresh fruit.

I am wearing: my bathing suit with the black skirt bottoms and multi-colored top

I am reading: my Bible, my new bible study "Me, Myself and Lies", and Chocolate Beach.

I am hoping: to continue having a gloriously fun vacation with my Sweetie!

I need: to get cracking on my assignment ~ I woke up this morning thinking "dang, it's due in a week and I forgot all about it".

I am creating: incredible memories, like yesterday's parasailing adventure (see my daily blog for more on that!)

I am hearing: the gentle whir of my laptop and somebody banging something in a condo above us (what are they doing at 8:45 am).

Around the house: signs of beach life... towels, beach chairs, flip flops.

One of my favorite things: hearing the sound of the ocean waves crashing

A few plans for the rest of the week: enjoying my hubby's company as we relax and explore on our vacation.

Here is a picture thought to share with you:

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of August 10, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: it is humid! The temperature is only 84 degrees, but the humidex/heat index says it feels like 102 with a severe thunderstorm watch... but at this moment it's sunny and looking like a perfect summer day (in my opinion after all our cool, rainy weather so far)

I am thinking: how much fun I had on the weekend with my sis & niece touring the 1000 Islands, but ooooh I may pay for it with all I have to do to prepare for vacation this week.

From the learning rooms: Asking myself "Is this wise?" in every decision I make as opposed to "Is it 'right' or 'wrong'?"

I am thankful for: the opportunity last week to billet in our home, 2 teenage girls ( LIT~leaders in training~ down from a summer camp up north to help out at our church day camp)

From the kitchen: all's quiet although I have been thinking of what to make for dinner... will probably do some fish, rice and broccoli

I am wearing: pink t-shirt, blue track pants (AC makes me cool inside) and slippers

I am reading: my Bible and books on writing fiction.

I am hoping: my hubby doesn't burn out from prepping for vacation at work ~ he's stressed with trying to get things caught up.

I need: get cracking on my assignment and organizing myself quickly.

I am creating: really poor fiction - lol It's so much harder than I imagined!

I am hearing: silence... pure, sweet, silence.

Around the house: a few souvenirs from my weekend.

One of my favorite things: exploring new places, like Singer Castle yesterday.

A few plans for the rest of the week: laundry, the next assignment for my course, touching base with friends, prepping for vacation...

Here is a picture thought to share with you:

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of August 3, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: it is beautiful. The temperature is 77 degrees and the sun is shining and it's an all-round perfect summer day!

I am thinking: too many things at once: is the house ready for tonight's guests?; what will my mentor say about my assignment?; I'd better start on the next one so it's done before vacation...

From the learning rooms: Narrative Summary... but do I understand it? I'm not sure!

I am thankful for: great family bonding time these past couple weeks with family from NC and extended family in the area.

From the kitchen: hubby has put a roast in the oven and it smells DELISH!

I am wearing: pink t-shirt, brown shorts and flip flops

I am reading: my Bible and books on writing fiction.

I am hoping: to get focused again - my head feels a little discombobulated lately.

I need: to get caught up in blog hopping and blog writing.

I am creating: not much these days but I will need to start knitting soon once I find out what sex my niece's triplets are

I am hearing: the voice of my wonderful hubby as he just came in from the pool.

Around the house: things are looking in good shape considering house guests just left yesterday and new ones are coming tonight.

One of my favorite things: hanging out with my family.

A few plans for the rest of the week: laundry, starting the next assignment for my course, touching base with friends, prepping for vacation, commuting the students we're billeting to the church each morning.

Here is a picture thought to share with you:

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of July 20, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: it is a perfect sunny day. My rose bush I planted at the front walkway is out in full bloom (and shocking my socks off).

I am thinking: I hope hubby's car doesn't need a lot of repairs done. The engine light came on yesterday on our way home from church ~ of course one day AFTER we booked vacation.

From the learning rooms: God is in control so we have nothing to worry about!

I am thankful for: God's blessings and even that we have a second car (for now) being on one income and all. God has always supplied ALL our needs and many of our wants and I am so grateful for His kindness and goodness.

From the kitchen: groceries are put away although I still need to take the meat I bought out of the fridge and package it individually for the freezer.

I am wearing: white tank top, brown shorts and bare feet

I am reading: my Bible and Take One, by Karen Kingsbury.

I am hoping: the car bill won't be too high.

I need: to start the laundry and cleaning the house for our guests at the end of the week.

I am creating: a broccoli salad for dinner tonight (although I'm not creating it just yet... that'll come later in the afternoon!)

I am hearing: just the tapping of my fingers on my keyboard and the hum of the central air.

Around the house: just a bit of clutter from the newspaper and books I used last week for my assignment, but otherwise, things are in pretty good shape.

One of my favorite things: snuggling with my hubby on the sofa or in bed ;-)

A few plans for the rest of the week: laundry, cleaning bathrooms, floors, starting the next assignment for my course, preparing for my sister's arrival.

Here is a picture thought to share with you:

My little rose bush I got as a "thank you"
for leading my small group this year

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of July 13, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: there is a cool summer breeze and I am wondering if we will ever have a "hot" summer this year? We get maybe one or two hot days and then it cools right down again.

I am thinking: that I really need to find some motivation to get cracking on my writing assignment that is due on Wednesday.

From the learning rooms: everything I have is God's and it is His to do with as He pleases.

I am thankful for: the ability to take a deep cleansing breath after my back went out on Saturday morning and I couldn't take a breath. I'm also thankful that it happened Sat a.m. when my chiropractor was in the office, otherwise it would have been a VERY long and painful weekend!

From the kitchen: are the cleaned, but not yet put away, serving dishes from Doug's little guy party he had on Saturday night watching UFC. I was thrilled to treat them all to delicious goodies!

I am wearing: pink tee, navy blue skort and flip flops

I am reading: my Bible and Take One, by Karen Kingsbury.

I am hoping: we can pin down our vacation plans for Myrtle Beach.

I need: to get cracking on this assignment as it looms over my head.

I am creating: anxiety by procrastinating.

I am hearing: traffic zooming by on the main road behind our house.

Around the house: are hubby's birthday balloons still floating in the air, laundry to be done and bathrooms to be cleaned, yet here I am blogging.

One of my favorite things: spending time with God, reading His Word or listening to a sermon on my Mp3.

A few plans for the rest of the week: laundry, cleaning bathrooms, floors, finishing the next assignment for my course, booking our vacation, dinner with my niece & her hubby if plans work out.

Here is a picture thought to share with you:

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of July 6, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: my garden is finally starting to take root full of pink and white impatients amidst the perennial bushes.

I am thinking: how exhausted I am, yet have so much "catch up" to do from two weeks of "sitting" for the furry nephew and 2 year old.

From the learning rooms: God knows what's best for us and what we can handle. He promises to never give us more than we can handle, even when we may think we're beyond the point of handling what comes our way.

I am thankful for: friends and family and for celebrations, like my hubby's 45th birthday!

From the kitchen: the last of the dinner prep dishes have gone into the dishwasher after I unloaded last night's load when I first entered the kitchen this morning.

I am wearing: white v-neck tee, periwinkle blue skort and pink sweater

I am reading: my Bible (not near enough these days though) and Take One, the first book in the newest series "Above the Line" by Karen Kingsbury, although I STILL haven't gotten very far yet still.

I am hoping: we are able to rent the condo in Myrtle Beach I found online - it looks GREAT with good reviews from previous guests. Just waiting for an email back from the owners.

I need: energy to accomplish the housecleaning tasks that went by the wayside the past 2 weeks.

I am creating: fajitas for dinner tonight.

I am hearing: sweet silence! Ahhhh... I love my quiet life ;-)

Around the house: are birthday balloons from last Thursday's birthday celebration for hubby.

One of my favorite things: showing my hubby how much he means to me and spoiling him for his birthday.

A few plans for the rest of the week: laundry, cleaning bathrooms, floors, starting the next assignment for my course, dinner out with a friend... that's about it - it's a pretty quiet week (thank goodness!)

Here are TWO picture thoughts to share with you:

Two last memories of my Sitting week!

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of June 29, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: dark clouds are rolling in and it looks like it could downpour at any minute.

I am thinking: that I know why God closed the door to "Mommyhood" for me... it is WAY too stressful! I am already grumpy after just one morning with a 2 yr old and the furry nephew. No patience for this I think :-(

From the learning rooms: That God is my sufficiency and He will be the only way for me to remain sane this week.

I am thankful for: my hubby who is always there to rescue me when I get like this! He already has a "sanity plan" for me when he gets home from work!

From the kitchen: I'm going to start dinner prep now while Little Miss "H" sleeps (if the dog doesn't drive me crazy).

I am wearing: green sweats and pink t-shirt.

I am reading: my Bible and Take One, the first book in the newest series "Above the Line" by Karen Kingsbury, although I haven't gotten very far yet still. I'll also reading the books on writing that I purchased last week.

I am hoping: to spend some quiet time with God while Hill sleeps so I won't be "Mean Auntie Sue" the entire time she is here.

I need: patience, a touch of God's peace and probably a "time out" for being cranky.

I am creating: quesadillas for dinner tonight.

I am hearing: silence and LOVING IT. I am NOT hearing the whiny, yet sweet, little voice of my 2 yr old god-daughter. The whiny tone to her sweet little voice is beginning to grate already and we're only on day 1.

Around the house: are signs of Pepper, my furry nephew and Little Miss "H"... toys (both human and canine), blankies, sippie cups, diapers,... you name it... it's ALL OVER my house right now!

One of my favorite things: saying good-bye to the chaos and going back to the quiet existence of me and hubby~ is that rude of me to say?

A few plans for the rest of the week: picking up my sister at the airport and saying good-bye to Pepper, finishing my assignment and reading the new books to help me in that, keeping my sanity as I care for Little Miss "H".

Here is a picture thought to share with you:

The wonder of a first bubble bath.

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of June 22, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: the sun is shining and the temperature is in the mid 70's although it feels in the mid-80's. A perfect summer day!

I am thinking: it is nice having a little puppy sleeping soundly on the sofa beside me. I'm puppy-sitting for one of my sisters this week. I'm also thinking that later I'll need to take Pepper for a walk to the top of the street and pick up my dry cleaning!

From the learning rooms: I came home from the bookstore today with 4 new books on writing: The 101 Habits of Highly Successful Novelists; Writer's Guide to Character Traits' The Longman Guide to Fiction Writing for Beginners; and The Everything Guide to Writing A Novel. (No pressure for me now!) Best thing was that the bookstore had a sale: Buy 3, get one free!

I am thankful for: my Dad. I didn't get to see him on Father's Day but celebrated him last Tuesday when they were here for the night.

From the kitchen: Pepper's crate is still up from my trip to the bookstore. All else is quiet in there right now although I will need to grab a drink of something soon.

I am wearing: pink t-shirt, steely and grey shorts.

I am reading: my Bible (Ecclesiastes still) and Take One, the first book in the newest series "Above the Line" by Karen Kingsbury, although I haven't gotten very far yet. I'll also start reading the books mentioned above in hopes it will help me with my assignments in this section of my writing course.

I am hoping: that I will like my new mentor better - so far not off to a great start... I find his approach very abrupt and harsh... not sure if I can take THAT much honesty. He's almost the polar opposite of my last mentor. :-(

I am creating: nothing much these days... other than the beginning rumblings of a story idea in my head.

I am hearing: as aways, the traffic on the street behind me, even with the windows shut and air conditioner on.

Around the house: are signs of Pepper, my furry nephew. His cushy little bed sits on the living room floor alongside his disgustingly soggy toys: Ducky and Bone. The kitchen houses his food/water bowl and right now his pen for when we go out. At the front door lay his harness and leash for the numerous outings we go on around the block or just the front lawn to pee.

One of my favorite things: having Pepper come and snuggle beside me on the sofa, laying his little head on my lap. Dogs are SO different from cats... they actually really like you and want to be with you! Who knew?

A few plans for the rest of the week: spending time with Pepper (enjoying every minute), working on my assignment and reading the new books to help me in that, BBQ with our small group on the weekend, prepare for house guests (BFF and family) next Sunday for the following week.

Here is a picture thought to share with you:

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of June 15, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: there is clear blue sky as the temperature slowly begins to rise creating a perfect late Spring day.

I am thinking: that a "quick" catch up in the mornings emails, blogs, etc is not quick at all. I really need to get a move on things.

From the learning rooms: I am learning that I need to be ready for Jesus' return and I need to make sure friends, family and even strangers are ready too. (related to this blog post)

I am thankful for: my precious hubby and the gift of his love and our happy marriage.

From the kitchen: The kettle has boiled and is awaiting me to get off the sofa and make my tea. Need... caffeine!

I am wearing: white v-neck t-shirt, navy blue sweat-material skort, green hoodie and blue slippers.

I am reading: my Bible (Ecclesiastes still) and Take One, the first book in the newest series "Above the Line" by Karen Kingsbury.

I am hoping: to get a lot accomplished today without getting too distracted (although that is so difficult to do for me it seems)

I am creating: a character biography for my writing assignment.

I am hearing: the hum of my laptop fan, the ticking of my too-long nails on the keyboard and the sound of traffic in the street behind me

Around the house: is a little bit of clutter that needs picking up, while a French Door waits to be painted

One of my favorite things: watching the face of the groom when his bride enters the church aisle that first moment.

A few plans for the rest of the week: my next assignment; housework in preparation for assorted houseguests coming and going this week, laundry, start my 10 day dog-sitting stint of my "nephew" Pepper on Thursday, babysitting Little Miss "H" for my BFF.

Here is a picture thought to share with you:

I love the sheer look of joy on the groom's face
(from the wedding we attended last Saturday)

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of June 8, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: it is cool and the sun is peeking out for awhile before the scheduled rain.

I am thinking: that with my gargantuan mound of laundry awaiting me downstairs I really don't have time to take hubby's car in for the 11:30 a.m. appointment he booked this morning while I was sleepingIndifference

From the learning rooms: I am learning to "enjoy what I have rather than desiring what I don't have" from my reading in Ecclesiastes 6.

I am thankful for: air travel safety as we traveled home from Texas.

From the kitchen: Not much happening over there... just some tea to wake me up. Hubby is out for dinner tonight so not sure what I'll have - probably just some leftover lasagna in the freezer.

I am wearing: pink v-neck t-shirt, blue sweats and pink slippers.

I am reading: my Bible (Ecclesiastes still) and Reconstructing Natalie by Laura Jensen Walker.

I am hoping: to find a "Sorry for the Loss of Your Pet" card within walking distance when I drop hubby's car off, to send to friends whose little cat, Noah, died over the weekend. Blowing Nose

I am creating: a huge mess in my family room with pile after pile of dirty laundry to be done.

I am hearing: the slight roar of trucks on the street behind me as they head through the intersection and the "tick-tock" of the kitchen clock.

Around the house: are signs that we've been away - huge piles of junk mail and papers on the dining room table, little piles of things out of the suitcase that haven't quite found a home yet (mostly piled on my bedroom dresser), mounds of laundry awaiting their turn in the washing machine.

One of my favorite things: feeling that suck-you-back-in-your-seat rush as the plane picks up speed on the runway for takeoff.... Ooooh I love that! It's like an amusement park ride. "I feel the need... the need for speed!"

A few plans for the rest of the week: my next assignment; getting things back in order here with housework, laundry, etc; painting that new French Door; finding a wedding gift and attending the wedding of a young couple in our small group.

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of June 1, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: are the gently rolling hills of the Texas countryside and I-35 traffic between Austin and San Antonio.

I am thinking: that I may just have burned my chin today by the pool. I forgot to take my hat down but probably burnt my chin before I remembered and went back up to the room to get it.

From the learning rooms: I am learning to be grateful for God's many blessings in my life, like being able to travel with my hubby and stay in lovely hotels.

I am thankful for: the opportunity to travel and visit my online buddy, Denise this weekend!

From the kitchen: there is hotel staff running about preparing for the dinnertime crowd, although for us, hubby is either bringing back Texas BBQ from his favorite place, or we're going out with his clients.

I am wearing: white v-neck t-shirt, brown shorts and bare feet... and sunscreen of course ;-)

I am reading: my Bible (Ecclesiastes still) and Covenant Child by Terri Blackstock

I am hoping: to get over to the outlet mall tomorrow for a few hours before I come back to sit by the pool again... or may do it in reverse... not sure yet!

I am creating: memories of my time here in Texas with friends and hubby.

I am hearing: the slightest hint of the traffic on the I-35 out the hotel window

Around the hotel: are kids from all over Texas in town for a band competition... the hotel has been CRAZY since we arrived but I'm hoping they're gone soon - a hotel full of teenagers is chaos!

One of my favorite things: spending time with Denise, Jason and Kristen at their beautiful home... sitting out on their balcony or patio just catching up!

A few plans for the rest of the week: the outlet mall, reading by the pool, working out in the little gym, maybe get a massage in the hotel spa, wander around San Antonio Friday and may stay our last night in downtown Austin.

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of May 25, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: It is going to be another beautiful Spring day. Temperature is 55F at 9am, expected to go into the low to mid-60's.

I am thinking: that I appreciate and love Spring more and more each year.

From the learning rooms: That my prayer life is in desperate need of an overhaul. Did you know that not praying is a sin?

I am thankful for: the gentle way the Lord speaks to me, using various means and methods to try and wake me up to Himself and His will for my life.

From the kitchen: My tea is steeping, there are a few dishes to pop into the dishwasher and my kitchen floor is in desperate need of some TLC today.

I am wearing: periwinkle blue skort, white v-neck t-shirt, angora hoodie and bare feet

I am reading: my Bible (Ecclesiastes still) and Marley & Me

I am hoping: I can get everything done I need to this week before we fly off on Saturday a.m.

I am creating: a character sketch for my next assignment on fiction

I am hearing: the traffic on the street behind our house and the various hums of the electronic appliances around my home (fridge, PVR to be exact)

Around the house: my first load of laundry is in the washer while 3 other loads wait their turn

One of my favorite things: visiting friends, like we'll be doing this coming weekend!

A few plans for the rest of the week: laundry, finishing my assignment, packing, grocery store and bank, tidying up the house

Here is a picture thought to share with you:

While away next week, we'll be staying one night
along the San Antonio Riverwalk
(in fact I think that's the hotel in the picture)

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of May 18, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: Everything is green and in bloom. The sun is getting ready to start its decent for another Spring day.

I am thinking: that I am SO full from dinner!

From the learning rooms: The LORD is my Shepherd and leads me along life's road, as long as I don't veer away from His path.

I am thankful for: the long Victoria Day weekend with my hubby and for good friends.

From the kitchen: Hubby is making this "bark" tea that has helped to lower his blood pressure!

I am wearing: green sweats, Snoopy T-shirt, green hoodie and flip flops

I am reading: my Bible (Ecclesiastes still) and Marley & Me

I am hoping: that Melissa wins DWTS this week.

I am creating: a decluttered house as I cleaned out the crawl space, throwing out lots of old "junk".

I am hearing: the t.v.

Around the house: things are pretty tidy

One of my favorite things: sitting in the sunshine with my hubby

A few plans for the rest of the week: checking out a resale house Tue p.m., reality tv finales, housework, writing assignment and our ladies' group spring banquet on Sat p.m.

Here is a picture thought to share with you:

The flowers Hubby bought me
last weekend are still looking great!
