Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of May 25, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: It is going to be another beautiful Spring day. Temperature is 55F at 9am, expected to go into the low to mid-60's.

I am thinking: that I appreciate and love Spring more and more each year.

From the learning rooms: That my prayer life is in desperate need of an overhaul. Did you know that not praying is a sin?

I am thankful for: the gentle way the Lord speaks to me, using various means and methods to try and wake me up to Himself and His will for my life.

From the kitchen: My tea is steeping, there are a few dishes to pop into the dishwasher and my kitchen floor is in desperate need of some TLC today.

I am wearing: periwinkle blue skort, white v-neck t-shirt, angora hoodie and bare feet

I am reading: my Bible (Ecclesiastes still) and Marley & Me

I am hoping: I can get everything done I need to this week before we fly off on Saturday a.m.

I am creating: a character sketch for my next assignment on fiction

I am hearing: the traffic on the street behind our house and the various hums of the electronic appliances around my home (fridge, PVR to be exact)

Around the house: my first load of laundry is in the washer while 3 other loads wait their turn

One of my favorite things: visiting friends, like we'll be doing this coming weekend!

A few plans for the rest of the week: laundry, finishing my assignment, packing, grocery store and bank, tidying up the house

Here is a picture thought to share with you:

While away next week, we'll be staying one night
along the San Antonio Riverwalk
(in fact I think that's the hotel in the picture)

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of May 18, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: Everything is green and in bloom. The sun is getting ready to start its decent for another Spring day.

I am thinking: that I am SO full from dinner!

From the learning rooms: The LORD is my Shepherd and leads me along life's road, as long as I don't veer away from His path.

I am thankful for: the long Victoria Day weekend with my hubby and for good friends.

From the kitchen: Hubby is making this "bark" tea that has helped to lower his blood pressure!

I am wearing: green sweats, Snoopy T-shirt, green hoodie and flip flops

I am reading: my Bible (Ecclesiastes still) and Marley & Me

I am hoping: that Melissa wins DWTS this week.

I am creating: a decluttered house as I cleaned out the crawl space, throwing out lots of old "junk".

I am hearing: the t.v.

Around the house: things are pretty tidy

One of my favorite things: sitting in the sunshine with my hubby

A few plans for the rest of the week: checking out a resale house Tue p.m., reality tv finales, housework, writing assignment and our ladies' group spring banquet on Sat p.m.

The flowers Hubby bought me
last weekend are still looking great!

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of May 11, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: The sun is shining brightly but the temperature is COLD! It's only 41 degrees at 9am. Where oh where did the 75 degrees from Friday go?

I am thinking: of my Mom and how much I missed her yesterday, although I am glad she is in Heaven, whole and happy!

From the learning rooms: Grief is about us and not the one whose left us when they go to Heaven. They are the best they've ever been there. It is just us missing them that makes it sad.

I am thankful for: having had a Mother who loved her 6 kids with her whole heart. She taught me about what true beauty is and what being a good wife looks like. I am thankful that she is with Jesus for eternity!

From the kitchen: there is silence, although I really do need to head in there and put the kettle on for my morning cup of tea

I am wearing: blue fleece track pants, white long sleeve t-shirt, pink hoodie, ankle socks (which aren't keeping my feet warm) and slippers

I am reading: my 2 devotional books and my Bible (although not as often as I should lately - I really fell off the wagon so to speak this year in my Bible in a Year and I've been floundering a little ever since. I really am starving for some good spiritual meat!

I am hoping: to discipline myself to get back into daily reading God's word and really digging in to learn what God wants me to learn.

I am creating: a parable for my writing course.

I am hearing: the hum of my laptop and the clicking of the keys as well as the traffic outside my window.

Around the house: I have a beautiful bouquet of flowers my hubby bought me from our "boys" for "Mother's Day", even though I'm not a mother and my "boys" are well... how do I put this... not quite "real" ;-)

One of my favorite things: seeing the joy on my StepMom and Mother-in-law's faces when we honored them with love and gifts this weekend.

A few plans for the rest of the week: one last Ladies' group Study and prep, lunch with 2 of my sisters (I think), housework, finish my writing assignment for Friday, not sure what else!

Here is a picture thought to share with you:

Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Week of May 4, 2009

For Today:

Outside my window: It looks like a great day ~ sunshine, somewhat mild. A beautiful Spring day!

I am thinking: it feels good to have all the baby/bridal showers behind me and I can relax a little finally!

From the learning rooms: Prov 19:3 ~ People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then are angry at the Lord - Why do we do this? What is wrong with us?

I am thankful for: how well the bridal shower went on Saturday. We only had about 10 days to plan and collect money from the ladies at church and with God's help it came together beautifully!

From the kitchen: not much is happening in there, although it is screaming for a really good clean - maybe later today... or sometime this week ;-)

I am wearing: black & white Snoopy pj bottoms, white long sleeve "T", cream angora hoodie and slippers, although it is noon and I should change into real clothes soon!

I am reading: Ecclesiastes in my Bible, 90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper, and my devotionals, although I feel terrible delinquent in all my reading at the moment... still.

I am hoping: to catch up on rest and some housework this week.

I am creating: nothing! Absolutely nothing right now and it feels strange... but good!

I am hearing: my tummy gurgle.

Around the house: My floors need a good sweep, the laundry is upstairs waiting to head to the laundry room, my bed needs to be stripped and changed, yet I'm content to sit and catch up on my Bible reading and such.

One of my favorite things: watching Spring spring forth a little more each and every day.

A few plans for the rest of the week: prepare for Book Club tomorrow night, listen to and type up Ladies' group study, chiropractor, may try & get a hair appointment, watch my youngest niece in a play Friday night - pretty quiet week especially compared to last week!
